Morgane Fortin is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Law and Political Science at the University of Paris Nanterre (France). She is working on a doctoral project in Legal and Institutions History entitled “Jews and citizenship in the county of Toulouse towns from 11th to 14th century” under the supervision of Prof. Gilduin Davy and Mrs. Capucine Nemo-Pekelman. From the acme of the county to the turmoil of the 14th century, her dissertation profiles the way Jews participated in civic life, and compares differences between towns. Using a variety of legal sources, such as urban statutes, tax, private law, and canon law, as well as archaeological, narrative, and theological sources, she portrays the legal and political status of Jews in the consulates of Southern France.
Morgane holds two master’s degrees in Law and has taught Legal History to first-year law students in France.
